NOT.
Its interesting how people complain about big business in america. All the hippies talking about “down with the machine”. boo hoo… cry me a river. Yet these people… somehow co-mingle with like minds and then smoke weed in a big circle agreeing with each other how big companies suck and tear the life out of the regular joe. ok,im exagerating about the weed and stuff… just making an example…
Let’s chat a bit about how companies started and what is the point of a corporation….
The first real signs of a corporation go back to the guilds in the middle ages. Yes, im talking of things like the goldsmith guild, iron guild, hunter’s guild, even thieve’s guild….. all these were a bunch of people that were good in their profession getting together and sharing a pint of ale at the local pub.
Then one day… they decided to pool their coins together to pay off a local tax official who was harassing them… and so started lobbying. KEEP IN MIND>.. these were poor family business owners, who just wanted the MAN to stop bothering them…
Then… they caught on to the idea of pooling money together… and they started making a habit of saving money together. pretty soon, the guilds were paying the king for favors. then the church… hten they formed unions… then syndicates… and the story goes on… until you have the first LARGE international corporation… the British based East India Trading Company… or… The COMPANY as it was known…
They not only lobbied against england… but in other countries as well… there were workers who operated successfully against the Company.
so how does this lead to my point? more on that to follow next time….
