Knight Scenes and Imaginings

I’m in starbuck’s – want coffee?

A man walks into a PEET’S COFFEE…. waits in line… idly flips through a magazine he has tucked under his shoulder… until his phone rings.

What follows are the exact words…..

“Hey honey! I’m in STARBUCK’S now. You want some coffee?”

This was spoken right in front of the cashier at a local Peet’s Coffee branded franchise.

It’s interesting how some companies can even define our modern culture. Take a look at the Sony Walkman(TM)

Then….

and now….

Yet, someone recently had the audacity to ask me, why am i referring to a “phone” as a “walkman” … it made no sense to her. She did not seem to understand that the WALKMAN is a brand trademarked and copywritten by Sony. It also is used in pop culture as the device most commonly known to play cassettes portably. Why? because SONY invented this, trademarked the name in 1976, and since then they can do whatever they choose with the name. If they wanna call a vibrator a “walkman” they can….

now if only ZIPPER had thought of this….
